Day by day, vaping is gaining much popularity, especially with the younger generation. But many of us are still wondering what vaping is, how it works, is it costly, and many other things.

Let’s understand the basic structure of a regular vape device. It’s a tank or container that’s battery powered to expel a water vapor like aerosol that contains nicotine. The inhaled vapor releases nicotine mixed with chemicals into the bloodstream. Vaping devices are also called “e-cigarettes” or simply vapes.

Why do people vape?

People get the nicotine kick from vapes, but in different fruity, menthol, & dessert flavors. Vapes produce less smoke, smell sweeter and don’t produce any ash. The refillable cartridges are reusable and more cost effective than regular cigarettes, which cost a lot to have replaced.

Many people also believe vaping is less harmful than smoking regular cigarettes. Although there is not enough evidence and the research is still going on.

Understanding how vapes work

The vape body consists of different parts: the battery, sensors, atomizer, and the cartridge.

There are two types of vape batteries, rechargeable batteries and disposable batteries. Like the name suggests, rechargeable batteries are used in reusable vape devices like vape pod systems. You can recharge the battery and the device by using a USB cable.

On the other hand, disposable batteries are used in single-use vape devices. It comes pre-charged and also runs out once the vape juice runs out too. Some disposable vape devices have rechargeable batteries too. But, they usually feature higher puff counts.

E-juice is a blend of vegetable glycerin (VG), propylene glycol (PG), flavoring, and nicotine (optional).

The e-liquid’s holding container is called the tank/pod. While some vapes utilize disposable pre-filled pods, others use refillable tanks.

The heating element in charge of vaporizing the e-liquid is called an atomizer. Coil is an interchangeable part of the atomizer that generates vapor by heating up.

When the device is turned on, the sensors heat the atomizer coils, and turn the e-liquid filled in the cartridge to vapor. This vapor is inhaled through the mouth of the cartridge.

Vaping vs smoking: Which is more harmful?

In a word, they’re both nicotine addictions and equally harmful to the body. But cigarettes burn a lot of other harmful chemicals alongside nicotine. That can affect your lungs, and in the long run, increases the potential risk of throat cancer, lung cancer, and other diseases.

In that sense, you might say vaping an e-cigarette is less harmful as it doesn’t contain other harmful ingredients. However, too much nicotine is not good for your health, and vape juice might contain nicotine.

But, there are plenty of nicotine levels of strength available in vaping e-liquids, including zero nicotine level. You can easily choose the suitable one, balancing your health and nicotine rush.

Is vaping too costly?

Often people wonder this as the initial cost of buying the vaping device, e-juice, to get started might seem a bit costlier. But, consider this as not a one-time investment. A vaping device might run well for at least a couple of years. All you have to do is buy the e-liquids and replace the coil depending on your vaping frequency.

So, in the long run vaping is actually a better money saver than smoking. As for the starters, you can just try a disposable vape that might cost the same price as smoking.
